September 22, 2012
Secretary of State Mrs. Hilary Clinton,
We would like to bring to your attention to the International Day of Hunger-strike launched by American Syrian women on Saturday, 22nd of September, in solidarity with the Syrian people.
Since Peaceful Syrian protesters took the streets in March 2011 chanting for freedom and dignity, the security forces of Bashar Assad have killed at least 26,283 people, among them tens of thousands of innocent women and children.
The Syrian regime’s campaign of destruction and indiscriminate killings of civilians has already claimed the lives of tens of thousands of defenseless Syrian people and committed endless massacres.
However, the people of Syria made their decision, in fact their only decision is to move forward. They march, with their heads held up high, so they can live with heads held up high claiming their inalienable rights. Their actions give a new meaning to Patrick Henry’s statement, ”Give me liberty or give me death.”
Madam Secretary, you have always been on the right side of history as a first lady, senator, presidential candidate, and secretary of state. We are proud to be here with you today as you stand with us, and with the people of Syria, once-again, on the right side of history.
We sincerely hope that the case of Syrian women and Children receive your kind attention and support.
